The Art of Arranging Flowers: A Complete Guide to Japanese Ikebana Overviews
First Edition. No date given, but Library of Congress lists date as 1965. Decorative green silk covers with gilt titles and a pictorial cover illustration. 366 pp. 56 color with many tipped in , and 428 b/w illustrations. Discussions on style, technique, symbolism, form, and traditions. Includes a basic course in the 12 forms of the popular "Moribana" style of ikebana, proceeding to more advanced forms; includes 4 appendices (one on plant symbolism) plus index. This book was recently re-issued in a shorter (208 pages), less lavish edition. You may want to get this older edition as well, for the illustrations alone - they are gorgeous! COLLECTORS NOTE: many of the color illustrations are tipped in (that is, printed separately and adhered only at the corners). Some may have been removed over the years, as they are suitable for framing. You may want to inquire as to whether they are all present before purchasing your copy. A real treasure, and a fine example of bookmaking.
